Kylian Mbappe is set to depart Paris Saint-Germain as his contract is coming to an end on June 30.

The French striker is expected to join Real Madrid, with an official announcement anticipated soon.

However, the 25-year-old has recently sparked interest by expressing his desire to play for another European giant.

In an interview with Sky Sports, he was asked if he would like to play in Italy. Not only did he leave that possibility open, but Mbappe also admitted to considering AC Milan as a potential destination.

“Italian football? You never know what happens”, told Sky Sports. “I was always saying: if I will go to Italy one day, I will go to Milan.”

Mbappe has yet to play outside Ligue 1, having excelled at AS Monaco before making a blockbuster move to PSG in the summer of 2017. He has hinted that Serie A could also be a possibility in the future, as he supports the Rossoneri.

“As a kid, I was a big fan of AC Milan and I always watch Serie A, every Milan game. All my family, massive Milan fan!,” Mbappe added.

This is not the first time the striker has openly spoken about his love for AC Milan, one of the most storied clubs in Europe.

“My connection with AC Milan is special,“ Mbappe told Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport in May 2022. “As a child, I had an Italian nanny and spent a lot of time with her family, who were all AC Milan fans. So, thanks to them, I also cheered for the Rossoneri and watched a lot of AC Milan games.“

Mbappe bid farewell to PSG after winning 14 trophies including six league titles. However, he couldn’t take his team to European glory as despite coming very close to winning in 2020, they lost to Bayern Munich in the Champions League final.

In his video, Mbappe didn’t mention where he would go next but as per reports, the Frenchman has already signed his contract with Madrid in February and the deal could be announced by the Spanish club after the Champions League final, which is on June 1.

Mbappe has been a long target of Los Blancos as they have been trying to sign the Frenchman since his AS Monaco but the deal never went through.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the signing-on fee for Mbappe will be around €100m and it will be paid across five seasons.

After a long wait of almost seven, Madrid will finally be able to get their hands on Mbappe, who will combine with the likes of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, Jude Bellingham and others next season.
