Kolkata Knight Riders owner co-owner Shah Rukh Khan had reportedly offered team mentor Gautam Gambhir a 'blank cheque' in order to stay with the franchise for the next 10 years.

According to a report in Dainik Jagran, the cheque was offered to the former Indian cricketer when he was at Lucknow Super Giants for 2022 and 2023 editions as a mentor. Gambhir became part of KKR in 2024 where the side made it into the final.

Amidst reports of Gambhir being interested in taking over the role of India's head coach, the report revealed Shah Rukh Khan intent's to keep the former India opener at the franchise for a long time.

Meanwhile, Gambhir is also interested in the India head coach job. But, wants a guarantee of his 100% selection if he fills out the application for the role. If the BCCI is only looking at Gambhir as one of the 'candidates', he isn't going to apply.

Remember, the BCCI encountered rejections from notable figures such as Ricky Ponting, Justin Langer, and Stephen Fleming regarding the possibility of succeeding Rahul Dravid as India's head coach. However, BCCI secretary Jay Shah denied extending any offers to former Australian cricketers.

Shah suggested that the board seeks a candidate who comprehends India's domestic cricket structure to lead the team.

"Neither I nor the BCCI have approached any former Australian cricketer with a coaching offer," Shah said in a statement. "The reports circulating in certain media sections are completely incorrect."
