England fast bowler Jofra Archer will miss out on the Sri Lanka tour as well as the Indian Premier League (IPL) as scans have revealed that the 24-year-old has suffered a stress fracture in his elbow, ESPNcricinfo reported.
The bowler had sustained the injury in his right elbow during the recently concluded Test series in South Africa, which his side won 3-1.
Following his return to England for a medical examination, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) issued a statement announcing that Archer would be dropped for the IPL as well as next month's Tests against Sri Lanka.
"Archer has suffered a low-grade stress fracture," the statement read.
"As a result of the injury, he has been ruled out of England's Test tour of Sri Lanka and the Indian Premier League 2020 season."
Meanwhile, the bowler took to Twitter to post a short message vowing his return.
“Be back soon,” he tweeted.
