IPL 2024 points table after KKR vs RR gets washed out

Rajasthan Royals were unable to secure a top-two finish on the points table after their match against the Kolkata Knight Riders was abandoned due to relentless rain at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati.

Sanju Samson's team ended in third place, with Sunrisers Hyderabad claiming the second spot thanks to a superior net run rate compared to the Royals.

Kolkata Knight Riders topped the table, bolstered by consistent performances. They accumulated 20 points, securing 9 wins in 14 matches.

Sunrisers Hyderabad rediscovered their form, overcoming their previous struggles with chasing large totals at the crucial moment. They triumphed over Punjab Kings in the first match of the day, driven by Abhishek Sharma's impressive 66, which facilitated their successful pursuit of 215.

Despite a strong start to the tournament, the Rajasthan Royals finished third on the points table after losing four consecutive games. Sanju Samson’s side must now regain their form in the Eliminator to mount a title challenge. However, the absence of Jos Buttler and the uncertainty surrounding some of the other overseas players makes it challenging for the Royals to reverse their fortunes.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru, having pulled off a remarkable feat last night, climbed to fourth place on the points table, securing the final playoff spot by defeating the Chennai Super Kings. Despite the odds, the Bangalore-based team managed to deliver a series of performances that propelled them into the next stage of the playoffs.
