India’s top-order batsman Shreyas Iyer on Wednesday scored his maiden ODI century, despite being dropped three times during the first ODI against New Zealand.
Iyer’s instrumental role saw India post a massive score at 347 runs. The 25-year-old was dropped on eight, 11 and 83 to hit 103 as he shared the field with skipper Virat Kohli (51) and top-order batsman K.L Rahul (88 not out).
The Men in Blue continued their winning streak after they thumped New Zealand to a 5-0 sweep in the T20 series.
India had ruled out top-order batsman Rohit Sharma out of the series following a calf muscle strain in the final T20 match last Sunday to give debuts to opening pair Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal.
