Hard-hitting wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan thinks a player needs some time in order to perform in international cricket.

The 25-year-old will be making a comeback in the T20I series against Ireland after he was ruled out of the New Zealand T20I series due to a tear in his calf muscle.

While talking to media persons on Sunday in Lahore, Azam said that he is vying to perform at his true potential for Pakistan.

"We are not robots that you press a button and we start performing. We all want to perform for the Pakistan team because that’s how you build your name. If given an opportunity, I will try to give my best," he said.

Meanwhile, Azam said that he can bat anywhere in the batting order and he is ready for the challenge if provided.

"There is no pressure of power-hitting. A batter needs to see the situation and take responsibility.

"I try to take advantage of the opportunity. If management sends me to any position, I am ready to bat," he added.

It must be noted Azam has played eight T20Is for Pakistan where he has only scored 29 runs.
