Pakistan set to announce squad for England T20I series tomorrow

The Green Shirts will visit England before leaving for the United States for the T20 World Cup 2024

The chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi confirmed in a press talk that the team for the England T20I series will be announced on Wednesday.

The Green Shirts will play England in a four-match T20I series from May 22 to 30 which would be their last outing before the commencement of the T20 World Cup 2024.

“We will announce the squad for the England T20I series tomorrow,” said Naqvi during a media talk on Tuesday.

He also talked about other pressing matters such as the Champions Trophy 2025 which is to be hosted by Pakistan. Naqvi said that there is no reason for India not to come to Pakistan to play in the tournament.

“We have sent the schedule [of the Champions Trophy] to the ICC, all eight teams will come,” Naqvi assured. “There is no reason as to why India would refuse to come.

“If they [India] are doing propaganda, why aren’t you doing as well?” Naqvi asked the media. “We are not thinking of a hybrid model, there is no talk of the sort.”

It is to be mentioned that Pakistan will have a busy schedule in May as they will play a total of seven T20Is.

Before England’s tour, Pakistan will travel to Ireland to participate in a three-match T20I series, with all of its matches being played in Dublin.

10 May — Ireland vs Pakistan, 1st T20I @ Dublin

12 May — Ireland vs Pakistan. 2nd T20I @ Dublin

14 May — Ireland vs Pakistan, 3rd T20I @ Dublin

22 May — England vs Pakistan, 1st T20I @ Leeds

25 May — England vs Pakistan, 2nd T20I @ Birmingham

28 May — England vs Pakistan, 3rd T20I @ Cardiff

30 May — England vs Pakistan, 4th T20I @ The Oval

After playing seven T20Is in May, Pakistan will travel to the United States, where all of their T20 World Cup group matches are scheduled.

Remember, Pakistan is in Group A with arch-rivals India and the two sides will take on one another in one of the most anticipated matches of the World Cup on June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York.
