Opening batsman Abid Ali on Friday said that he drew inspiration from former Indian skipper Sachin Tendulkar and revealed that he looked to emulate the cricket legend’s playing style.

"Obviously there are other great batsmen as well that I admire but I have tried to adapt my game to the way Tendulkar played," Abid told the media in Lahore.

The 32-year-old, who shares a similar height with the former batsman, said that his playing style enabled him to improve his own game, explaining that his style of play is different from his taller peers.

However, he dismissed the idea of being labelled the "Pakistani Tendulkar" as he drew inspiration from the batting great himself.

"From the start I have watched his videos and I watch him bat more because of his height as I am also of similar height. This has helped me pick up and adopt his batting strengths," Abid said.

Meanwhile, Abid is looking to equal his record of scoring centuries in the first three Tests with former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin.

"When we play Bangladesh in the Test next month in Rawalpindi, I will have that in mind. But I can only try to give my best and play positively. Scoring a third century is very important for me as well but I can only give it my best effort."
