Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) entered into the Indian Premier League (IPL) history books after a thumping performance against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in the ongoing 2024 season on Wednesday.
Batting first, KKR managed to score 272/7 in the allocated overs as they finished just five runs short of Sunrises Hyderabad’s highest score of 277/3 in IPL history which came against the struggling Mumbai Indians.
SRH became the first team earlier this edition to score the highest score in a single innings where Heinrich Klaasen, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma starred for their side as they took Mumbai’s bowlers to the cleaners.
However, KKR came close to beating SRH’s record but couldn't overtake them. In an unusual outing in Visakhapatnam, the Shreyas Iyer-led side proved their prowess by coming hard against DC’s bowlers.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi slammed a 27-ball 54 and he was supported greatly by Andre Russell's 41 runs on 19 balls. Rinku Singh provided late support to his side by scoring 26 runs on just eight balls with the help of one four and three sixes.

The all-rounder, who was once again sent to open the batting with Phil Salt, looked in sublime touch as he completely dismantled the DC bowling attack.
Narine's best over came against Ishant Sharma where he ended up scoring 26 runs with a barrage of boundaries as KKR scored 88 runs in the powerplay.
The ex-Windies player smashed 7 fours and as many sixes to register the highest individual score of 85 runs.
