Mumbai Indians wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan was spotted wearing a quirky superhero costume adorned with MI’s emblem on his chest as the team departed from Mumbai airport.
The playful attire added a light-hearted touch to the departure, showcasing Kishan’s sense of humour and team spirit as they embarked on their journey.
Mumbai Indians have devised a distinctive method to enforce discipline among their players, addressing infractions such as tardiness to practice or disregarding hotel call times. Each season, the management crafts a unique outfit, which offending players must wear throughout the day as a consequence of breaking team rules.
This disciplinary approach applies to all members of the squad, regardless of seniority, emphasising the team’s commitment to maintaining standards during the IPL season.
Ex-skipper Rohit Sharma had previously revealed that there has been a tradition in the MI camp that if a player fails to abide by rules, he will be subjected to a funny public skit. As a result, when someone appears late for the meetings or the departure of the team bus, as a hilarious penalisation, the player would be wearing a funny superhero costume on the way to their next arrival. The stumper-batter was subjected to this comic treatment during IPL 2018 as well.
It must be noted that in their IPL 2024 encounter at Wankhede Stadium on April 1, Mumbai Indians suffered defeat against Rajasthan Royals, marking their third consecutive loss this season.
The five-time champions currently occupy the bottom position on the points table, having failed to secure a victory thus far. As the only team yet to register a win in the tournament, Mumbai Indians find themselves in a challenging position.
Their upcoming fixture will see them hosting the Delhi Capitals in Match 20 of IPL 2024 at Wankhede Stadium on April 7. Mumbai Indians will be eager to turn their fortunes around and secure their first win of the season against the Capitals.
