The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) rescheduled two matches of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Tuesday.

The development comes after authorities in Kolkata were unsure of providing security for the matches at the Eden Gardens as it clashes with Rama Navami festivities.

“The fixture between Kolkata Knight Riders & Rajasthan Royals, which was earlier scheduled to take place on April 17, 2024 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata will now be played a day prior on April 16, 2024,” BCCI said in a brief statement.

“The Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad was earlier scheduled to host the match between Gujarat Titans & Delhi Capitals on April 16, 2024. The fixture will now be played on April 17, 2024,” it added.

Due to the General Elections, the BCCI had issued the fixtures of IPL in two phases. The first phase included 21 matches, while the remaining were shared after the Election Commission of India announced the polling dates.

After the conclusion of the league stage on May 19, Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, the world’s biggest cricket stadium, will host Qualifier 1 clash featuring two top-ranked sides on Tuesday, May 21st, followed by the Eliminator on Wednesday, May 22nd.

Similarly to the season opener, the Qualifier 2 and the grand final will be held in Chennai.

The Qualifier 2, which between the loser of Qualifier 1 and the winner of the Eliminator, will take place on Friday, May 24th, followed by the final on Sunday, May 26th.
