Barcelona star Iñigo Martínez was captured exiting his car and confronting a young football fan by the roadside.

As per Spanish media reports, the youngster was a supporter of Athletic Bilbao. Martínez, who joined Barça over the summer, had previously spent five years at Athletic after commencing his career with rivals Real Sociedad.

In a video circulated on social media with the caption, 'If you leave Athletic you end up losing', Spain international Martínez can be observed halting his Range Rover in the middle of the road before the fan approaches him.

The 32-year-old then gestures and exchanges words with the youngster before returning to his vehicle. It remains unclear when exactly the encounter occurred.

Martínez played the full 90 minutes over the weekend as Barcelona narrowly clinched a 1-0 victory against Las Palmas, keeping them on course for Champions League qualification.

Barcelona's triumph on Saturday ensured they finished the weekend in second place in the league. Girona, their rivals for the second spot, secured a narrow victory of their own against Real Betis, with Cristhian Stuani scoring a last-minute winner.

The Catalan club will bid farewell to manager Xavi at the end of the season. The former club captain guided his team to the title last season but has decided to call time on his tenure at Camp Nou.

Despite the forthcoming changes in the dugout, Barcelona has advanced to the Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain. Martínez started the first leg of the round of 16 victory over Napoli but was on the bench for the second-leg triumph, a result praised by captain Sergi Roberto.
