Real Madrid veteran midfielder Toni Kroos has decided to sign a new deal with the club, reported renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano on Wednesday.

The announcement of the contract extension will be made official in the coming days once Kroos returns to Santiago Bernabeu from international break.

Kroos, 34, is still at the top of his game and has shown no signs of decline and the club had no intentions of losing one of the most important pillars of the team while he can still contribute greatly.

As of now, Real Madrid are at first place in the league with 72 points from 29 games, their direct competition at this point is with arch-rivals FC Barcelona, who have 64 points from the same number of matches as the Whites.

Kroos has been one of the most important players for Real Madrid ever since his debut. He was a starter in all the trophies he won with the club. Starting with his debut against Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup in 2014 which Real Madrid won by two goals.

The midfielder won the FIFA World Cup with the German national team in 2014 in Brazil. He was also part of the IFFHS and UEFA’s team of the decade 2011-2020.

Earlier, Kroos came out of international retirement to represent Germany in Euro 2024, which is set to begin on June 14.

Kroos, who had not played for Germany since 2021, decided to step back from international duty after his country's defeat to England in the European Championships that summer.

He participated in Germany's international friendlies against France and the Netherlands and provided Julian Nagelsmann's side with the much-needed support in the midfield.

Germany is set to host Euro 2024 in June, where they have been placed in Group A alongside Scotland, Hungary, and Switzerland.
