After being eliminated in Q2 in the ongoing 2024 Australian Grand Prix 2024, Lewis Hamilton blamed the inconsistencies in W15, one of Mercedes automobiles, and the winds for affecting his performance.

Hamilton's Mercedes teammate Goerge Russell managed to secure a top 10 finish but the Briton couldn’t maintain the same level as the W15 consistency did mess up with his mind.

“It felt great in P3, and it was strange because we were right there with these guys and we didn’t really understand why,” Hamilton told Sky F1 after the session. “We then go into qualifying and just another inconsistency within the car, it really messes with the mind.

“But George did a good job today. It is what it is, I just have to try and do a better job tomorrow.”

Multiple factors take place at the Albert Park and Hamilton added that the wind played its part as the car becomes unstable as soon as the winds start to get stronger.

“I mean, there’s a long list,” he responded when asked what fixes are required on the W15.

“I mean, I think our car is on a bit of a knife edge. I think in the afternoon here, the wind picks up, same as P2, our P1 was a bit better and then, when the wind picks up, the car becomes a lot more unstable.

“This morning was nice. We found the wind and then as soon as the wind picks up, it gets a little bit less stable."

Earlier, Max Verstappen cruised Red Bull to the 2024 Australian Grand Prix pole position after an intense showdown against Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz.

Verstappen once again showed his dominance at the circuit as the Dutchman defeated Sainz by nearly three-tenths in the Q3 shootout sessions.

While Sainz recorded the fastest time of Q2 by two-tenths, Verstappen saved his energy and stepped up when it mattered the most to secure yet another pole position in Melbourne.
