The UFC is gearing up for an electrifying return to Abu Dhabi this summer, with an exciting bout scheduled for Saturday, August 3. This will mark the second event in the capital within 12 months, set to take place at Yas Island’s Etihad Arena.

While the lineup for this eagerly anticipated event is yet to be revealed, fans can expect some of the sport's most skilled athletes to step into the Octagon later this year.

Dubbed as the city’s inaugural UFC Fight Night, this event will be the 18th of its kind to grace the UAE capital, following the historic UFC 294 Makhachev vs Volkanovski showdown in October 2023.

The sold-out event witnessed Islam Makhachev successfully defend his lightweight title against Alexander Volkanovski, securing victory by KO (strikes) at 3.06 of Round 1, culminating in a thrilling conclusion to the night.

This event is part of a series of collaborations between the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and the UFC, following their formal partnership established in 2019. Last year, this partnership was extended until 2028.

“Some of the most iconic moments in UFC history have taken place during epic Fight Nights – and we are excited to create more spectacular memories for MMA fans,” commented H.E. Saleh Al Geziry, Director General for Tourism at DCT Abu Dhabi, said.

Following the success of previous events, UFC CEO Dana White has confirmed the promotion's plans to host multiple events in Abu Dhabi throughout 2024.

“Yeah, pay-per-views and Fight Nights,” White told MMA Junkie during the UFC 294 post-event news conference. “These guys are interested in – I think we did a deal for three Fight Nights, but they’re interested in much, much more as far as Fight Nights go. So, we’ll see how this thing plays out.”
