Carlo Ancelotti held a press conference ahead of Real Madrid’s potential title decider against Girona which will be played at the Santiago Bernabeu on Friday.

Real Madrid played with the centre-back pairing of Dani Carvajal and Nacho Fernandez against Atletico Madrid on February where they conceded a late equaliser from Marcos Llorente as they struggled in aerial duels throughout the match.

However, that may not be the case as Aurelien Tchouameni and Antonio Rudiger are training with the team and will be pairing at the heart of their defense against Girona.

Ancelotti was positive with Rudiger, who suffered a bruise on his thigh against Getafe earlier this month, that he would be able to play without any problems, however, the Italian confirmed that he wouldn’t take any risk.

On the other hand, Vinicius Junior is also training with the team but his participation is still not confirmed.

“Rudiger trained today and feels good. If he is fine, at his best, he will play tomorrow, if not, we will not risk it, although it is a part of the body without too much risk. Today he felt good, let’s see tomorrow. Vinicius is fine,” Ancelotti said.

Nacho will try his best to recover in time to be able to participate in the Whites’ UEFA Champions League knockout match against RB Leipzig.

“He started individual work today and by Tuesday he will be fine,” Ancelotti explained.

Ancelotti was then asked what advice he has been giving to Carvajal as the right-back often has to fill in as a centre-back due to their constant struggle with the injuries.

“I can’t say much to Carvajal, but he is one of the best experts there is. When Rudiger plays, he gives a lot of advice to Tchouameni, but we can’t say anything to Carvajal, because he knows perfectly how a centre-back plays. In small games, he has always been a central defender,” the Italian added.
