The Pakistan senior men's volleyball, U18 and U20 teams are gearing up for the upcoming events, the Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) announced on November 30.
The senior side is preparing for the 6th Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games in Bangkok & Chonburi, the Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship and the AVC Challenge Cup in Bahrain.
Meanwhile, the U18 side is getting ready for the Asian Championship and CAVA U-18 Volleyball Championship in Uzbekistan.
While the U20 side is preparing for the 4th International Volleyball Championship and CAVA U-20 Volleyball Championship in Sri Lanka
PVF also shed light on the ongoing U18 and U23 Training Camp and provided insights into the notable achievements and future plans of the Pakistan Volleyball Team.
Below are the details of the championships where different Pakistan teams had mixed performances:
1. Central Asian Volleyball Championship (November 24 – 29, 2022): PVF organized a highly successful championship, hosting international teams from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. The Pakistan National Volleyball Team showcased exceptional skills and sportsmanship, securing the Gold Medal.
2. AVC Challenge Cup for Men (July 8 – 15, 2023): Despite the talent and determination of the Pakistan National Team, the government's denial of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) resulted in a financial loss of 25 Million PKR. Unfortunately, the team couldn't participate, impacting its overall ranking.
3. CAVA U-16 Volleyball Championship (July 14 – 19, 2023): The Pakistan U-16 Volleyball Team exhibited outstanding performance, securing a Silver Medal in the championship.
4. 1st Asian Men’s U16 Volleyball Championship (July 22 – 29, 2023): Participating among 14 teams, the Pakistan U-16 Volleyball Team achieved the 4th Position, showcasing promise for the future.
5. 22nd Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championship (August 19 – 26, 2023): The Pakistan National Senior Men’s Volleyball Team secured the 8th rank in a highly competitive field.
6. 19th Asian Games (September 19 – 26, 2023): A significant achievement for Pakistan as the National Senior Men’s Volleyball Team secured the 5th position, improving its ranking from 8th to 5th in Asia after defeating India by 3-0.
7. Youth Development and Training Camps: Trials for the U-18 Training Camp were conducted in four cities, laying the groundwork for nurturing young talent. Currently, U-18 and U-23 Training Camps are underway in Islamabad, supervised by Brazilian Volleyball Coaches from November 6, 2023, to January 31, 2024.
Head Coach Issanaye Remiress addressed the media where he shared valuable insights into the performance of the Training Camp. Remiress highlighted the dedication and hard work exhibited by the players, emphasising the team's commitment to achieving excellence in the sport.
On the other hand, PVF officials expressed their optimism for the future of volleyball in Pakistan, reiterating their commitment to nurturing and promoting the sport at all levels. They extended gratitude to the media for their continued support and coverage of volleyball events in the country.
Emphasising the importance of fostering a culture of sportsmanship and teamwork among the players, PVF officials reaffirmed their dedication to providing the necessary resources and support for the growth of volleyball in Pakistan.
