Schedule of National T20 Cup Super Eight confirmed
Eight teams progressing from the group stage will engage in a round-robin format, playing seven games each
The Super Eight stage of the National T20 Cup 2023-24 is set to take place from 1st to 8th December 2023 at three venues spread across Karachi — the National Bank Stadium, UBL Sports Complex, and NBP Sports Complex.
Eight teams progressing from the group stage will engage in a round-robin format, playing seven games each. Subsequently, the top four teams will clash in the semi-finals scheduled for 9th December at the National Bank Stadium. The final showdown will also unfold at the same venue on 10th December.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has declared free entry for spectators attending matches at the National Bank Stadium. Three enclosures – Hanif Mohammad, Javed Miandad, and Fazal Mahmood – will be open to the public.
The Super Eight teams are: Peshawar and Lahore Whites from Group A, Lahore Blues, and Karachi Whites from Group B, Rawalpindi and Abbottabad from Group C, and Sialkot and FATA from Group D.
Ahmed Shehzad, the right-handed batter from Lahore Whites, has emerged as the top run-scorer in the tournament thus far. The 32-year-old notched up three consecutive half-centuries, accumulating 213 runs from three matches. Zeeshan Malik of Rawalpindi and Sahibzada Farhan from Peshawar are the two centurions of the tournament up to this point.
Umair Afridi, the left-arm pacer from Islamabad, leads the wicket-taking tally in the tournament. The 26-year-old has claimed 12 wickets in four matches. However, Islamabad did not progress to the Super Eight stage. Among the advancing teams, Arif Yaqoob, the leg spinner from Karachi Whites, has secured the most wickets with nine scalps at an average of 10.44, including a four-wicket haul. His teammate, right-arm pacer Sohail Khan, holds the best bowling figures of the tournament with 5-10, achieved against Hyderabad.
Akbar Khan of Hyderabad has excelled as the most successful wicket-keeper in the tournament so far, gathering a total of seven dismissals, comprising four catches and three stumpings. Asad Shafiq of Karachi Whites has been the most proficient fielder with six catches in four matches.
Each day of the Super Eight stage will feature four matches, except for 5th December, which will observe no play. All matches held at the National Bank Stadium will be broadcast live.
The afternoon games that are being broadcast will start at 15:00 PKT, with toss conducted at 14:30 PKT. Toss for evening games will take place at 19:30 PKT and the first ball will be bowled at 20:00 PKT.
