During the second semi-final of the Pakistan Cup 2023-24, a nasty collision occurred between Shan Masood and Sarfaraz Ahmed, disrupting the game and resulting in an injury concern for Pakistan’s recently appointed Test team captain.

The incident took place during the match between Karachi Whites and Multan at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.

As Karachi Whites defended a target of 281 runs against Multan, a critical moment arose during the 8.2 overs. Multan stood at 34/2 when Sohaib Maqsood struck the ball high into the air. Both Masood and Sarfaraz dashed to claim the catch, leading to a severe collision.

While Sarfaraz managed to regain his footing after the collision, Masood seemed to be in significant discomfort, clutching his ankle in pain, leading him to leave the field,

The collision between the two players briefly paused the game as medical assistance was summoned to tend to Masood's injury.

Reportedly, Shan has no major injury concern due to the collision.

Remember, Babar Azam opted to resign from captaincy across formats. PCB, on November 15, confirmed appointment of Shan Masood as the Test captain of Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team, while Shaheen Shah Afridi has been named T20I captain.

Shan has been appointed captain till the end of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25. Shan’s first assignment as captain will be a three-match Test series against Australia in Australia starting from 14 December.

Meanwhile, left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah will lead Pakistan Men’s Team in the T20I format and his first assignment as captain will be the five-match T20I series in New Zealand from 12 to 21 January.
