Pakistan vs India encounter in the 2023 Sultan of Johor Cup ended 3-3 after a thrilling encounter in Malaysia on Friday.
The six-goal thriller between the arch-rivals saw four goals from penalty corners with both India and Pakistan scoring one field goal each.
The game started evenly with the first quarter ending goalless as both teams defended well and successfully managed to stop their opponents’ attacks consistently.
However, just as the second quarter was about to end, India’s Amandeep Singh put his side in a leading position after scoring from the penalty corner in the 30th minute.
Pakistan started the third quarter on a high note with Arbaz Ahmed equaling for his side in the second minute. The game was 1-1 at the end of the third quarter.
The fourth quarter was the most thrilling and intense among all as out of the total of six goals, four came in the last 15 minutes as both sides did their best to come out victorious.
Pakistan took the lead in the 49th minute with Abdul Shahid making it 2-1 for the Men in Green and the scoreline remained the same for the next seven minutes.
For once it looked like Pakistan would emerge victorious but with just four minutes remaining in the game, India’s Arjun Aditiya Lalage scored in the 56th minute from the penalty corner.
The Green Shirts did not give up and instead of defending and opting for a draw, they went all out attack and eventually scored one more in the 58th minute with Arbaz scoring another for his side.
What looked like a certain victory for Pakistan, ended in a draw with the Blues’ Uttam Singh scoring a last-minute equaliser, in the 59th minute, getting his side out from the jaws of defeat.
Pakistan will now play New Zealand next on October 28.
