KARACHI: Former Pakistan captain, Misbah-ul-Haq, who is part of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Cricket Committee, has clarified he had no input in the selection of the ICC World Cup 2023 squad and central contracts.

Ex-coach emphasised that the decisions were solely made by team management and the selection committee.

"I also have concerns about this. They decided previously with the team management. We also can't understand this decision and there is no input from us," Misbah said while talking to reporters in Karachi.

"I also have reservations about the central contract, it wasn't my input."

"Key members of particular format should be in the top category of the Central Contract," advocates Misbah-ul-Haq, noting that this is a decision of the selection committee and management.

"The composition of the team is the responsibility of the selection committee and management. The chairman has shown full support; inquiries should be directed to them," he added.

Earlier, the Chairman of the PCB Management Committee Zaka Ashraf said that players who are a regular part of the Pakistan team in a particular format will be added to the list of central contracts.

PCB confirmed a list of 25 cricketers as part of the revamped central contracts and surprisingly Test spinners Nauman Ali and Abrar Ahmed were not part of it. Meanwhile, former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed was placed in the D category.

No room for error in World Cup

Misbah said Pakistan will have no room for error in the World Cup. "In the mega event, no team can afford complacency. Every match demands your utmost effort."

Misbah stressed strong performances are imperative in matches against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka

"Both upcoming matches before facing India hold great significance. Experiencing fluctuations in two matches could bring added pressure," warns Misbah-ul-Haq.
