Manchester United’s woes continue to increase as right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been ruled out for several weeks following an injury he picked during a 3-1 defeat against Brighton at Old Trafford on Saturday (September 16).
Bissaka was put on the bench against Brighton as he was going through an illness. The English international came on as a substitute in the 85th minute and picked up an injury.
"Aaron Wan-Bissaka is set for a period on the sidelines after sustaining an injury during the closing stages of Saturday's game against Brighton and Hove Albion,” the club confirmed in an official statement.
"Further assessment will be needed to determine how long Wan-Bissaka will be out for, but initial indications suggest it will be several weeks."
As per unofficial reports, the 25-year-old may miss up to two months of action, joining the list of lengthy absentees.
The 20-time Premier League (PL) champions have struggled with injuries throughout the season as key players like Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia all picked up knocks before the right-back’s setback.
Not just them, new signing Mason Mount has not played the last three games while other new signings like Sofyan Amrabat and Rasmus Hojlund have been unavailable at times.
Man United will now take on Bayern Munich on Wednesday at Allianz Arena amid all the injuries.
With no natural right winger and an injury-riddled squad, it will be Erik Ten Hag’s biggest test as to how he manages to tackle the deadly Bayern team.
It must be noted that United have two right-wingers in their first-team squad, Jadon Sancho and Antony, and both are not available for selection.
Sancho has been training away from the first team squad over some disciplinary issues while Antony is out until further notice as he has been accused of domestic violence and rape during this month.
The Manchester United side led by Bruno Fernandes has just two wins out of five matches they have played this season which came against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Theatre of Dreams, where a last-minute penalty was denied to the visitors, and Nottingham Forest courtesy of a 76th-minute match-winning penalty.
