Pakistan cricket team's newly appointed head coach Misbahul Haq is quite literally working day and night ahead of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy's launch on Saturday.

Misbah, as per Daily Jang, is omnipresent at Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) properties these days, monitoring the teams' practice sessions in the morning and reviewing the quality of pitches and their preparation in the evening.

The head-coach-cum-chief-selector reportedly met the provincial teams' coaches and managers, and instructed them to focus on two areas: fitness and discipline.

Misbah told the officials of the six teams to report to the PCB if any player — no matter how influential — makes a disciplinary violation.

If any player tries to use his influence, Misbah said, the matter should be reported directly to him. He would then talk to the board and even go as high as Prime Minister Imran Khan himself in order to take action, he added.

Misbah, during his meetings with domestic coaches, noticed that playing spin, which had traditionally been the strength of Pakistani batsmen, has now become a weakness.

Therefore, he has called up all the spinners in the domestic circuit in order to ensure that the batters are comfortable against the spin.

Misbah reiterated that the national team's doors are open to everyone, as long as they perform and maintain high fitness and disciplinary levels.
