The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has requested for a change in date of the Pakistan vs England match on November 12 in Kolkata during the ICC World Cup 2023.

The request has come because of Kali Puja — a Hindu festival that is celebrated in India — as the entire police department will be busy with that. In light of these issues, the CAB stated that providing security for Pakistan will be next to impossible.

CAB also informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) team on Saturday and the Board of Control for Cricket’s (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah on Friday about Kolkata Police not being able to give security to Pakistan on the day of Kali Puja.

Pakistan’s match against England will conclude their group-stage journey in the mega event.

Earlier today, it was reported that Pakistan’s squad for the World Cup has started taking shape after an initial discussion between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Think Tank.

However, the final decision about the squad will be taken by the new chief selector — who is yet to be appointed.

According to sources, PCB Think Tank have agreed on 12 to 13 players who will be included in Pakistan’s World Cup squad.

According to sources, captain Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi, Usama Mir, Mohammad Nawaz and Agha Salman are likely to be part of the squad.

Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Wasim Jnr are also under consideration for the squad, sources added.

Two players from Shan Masood, Abdullah Shafique, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Haris and Tayyab Tahir will also be included in the squad.

The remaining two to three names will be finalised during the next few days.
