Yasir Khan, Pakistan's Bronze medalist in Asian Athletics Championship, shared that Indian star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra congratulated him over the phone.
Speaking to Geo News, Yasir said it was a real confidence booster when Neeraj called him after he bagged Bronze in the Asian event.
"Neeraj Bhai is my favourite and he is also a very good friend of mine. He called me and congratulated me after I won the Bronze. It really gave me confidence," he shared.
Yasir threw his career-best throw of 79.93 metres to bag Bronze in the Asian championship.
The javeline thrower now eyes Olympics qualification. "I made the most of the opportunity I got in the Asian championship. I aim to improve my performance in the upcoming Asian Games," he said.
"I want to represent Pakistan in the next Olympics, that's the goal," he concluded.
Yasir finished third in the Asian championship. Japan’s Roderick Genki Dean, 83.15m, and India’s Manu Devarakeshavi Prakash, 81.01m, won the gold and silver medal, respectively.
