Former fast bowler Aaqib Javed has sent Misbahul Haq his best wishes for bagging the coveted head coaching position of the Pakistan cricket team, but warned that the manner of his appointment has exposed him to criticism.

Javed, who coaches Pakistan Super League (franchise) Lahore Qalandars, expressed his reservations at the appointment but still extended his best wishes to the Mianwali-born.

"The way in which Misbah is being brought ... of course there will be criticism," he said. "[But] I wish good luck to him."

Javed appeared to take a dig at Misbah's appointment as the head coach despite no coaching experience, bemoaning that "in Pakistan, former cricketers get appointed as coaches right after retiring."

"We will have to wait and see if the Misbah experiment proves successful or not," he added.

He further said that the PCB itself provides opportunities to critics through its planning (or lack thereof).
