England’s women’s team is one of the best teams in the world and it comes as no surprise as they are the current Women’s Euro 2022 Champions, a feat they achieved without losing a single game in the tournament.

Currently ranked number 4, England is one of the biggest favourites to win the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup. They will take on Haiti on July 22. It will be the first-ever meeting between the two teams and England have never lost a group-stage game against a CONCACAF team in their history.

While Haiti are one of the eight teams making their debut at the World Cup, they will try their best to become the second CONCACAF team to win their first game in the tournament.

On the other hand, the Lionesses are looking forward to becoming the second team after Germany in 2003 and 2007 to win the Women’s World Cup as the reigning Euro champions.

As per the Opta Predictor, England have the second best (16%) to lift the trophy after USA (23%), which comes as no surprise as the latter have won the last two World Cups and have won four overall.

England will begin their World Cup against Haiti, ranked 53, on July 22.

In August 2020, England announced the arrival of new coach Sarina Wiegman — becoming the first non-British permanent manager — who agreed to take over the team from September 2021.

Wiegman started her era with a heavy 8-0 victory against North Macedonia, followed by another high-margin victory against Luxembourg by 10 goals by playing a dominant and attacking football.

England then went on to develop a 30-match unbeaten streak during which they also clinched Euro 2022. After claiming Euro 2022, they went on to win the Finalissima 2023 against Brazil 4-2 on penalties.

Now, with Wiegman’s ruthlessness and England’s winning mentality, they are surely not just here to participate in the World Cup but to win the accolade.
