Afghanistan's leg-spinner Rashid Khan has been ruled out of the first two ODIs of three-match series against Sri Lanka.

Rashid, who represented Indian Premier League (IPL) season 16's runners-up Gujarat Titans, will miss the matches due to back pain.

Afghanistan team's medical panel has advised complete rest to Khan. His appearance in the third ODI will depend on his fitness.

Sri Lanka will host Afghanistan for three ODIs from June 2 to 7. The series will help the host country prepare for the ICC World Cup Qualifiers.

Rashid led Titans' bowling line from the front in IPL season 16. He remained third best bowler, bagging 27 wickets in 17 matches. In batting, he scored 130 runs in as many matches.

Rashid Khan shares his love for bats

In a Twitter video during IPL 16, Rashid shared his love for his bats. "I carry five to six bats with me in the game, otherwise I have at least 10 bats on any tour," shared Rashid. "I love my bats. I check my bats daily and it gives me immense pleasure," he added.

Afghanistan's leg-spinner Rashid Khan is one of the prominent figures in world cricket right now.

The bowling all-rounder has changed the landscape of cricket back at his home. He inspired the young generation to take up cricket as a profession.

Due to his impact on world cricket, five Afghanistan players played in IPL 16. Rahmanullah Gurbaz represented Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Fazalhaq Farooqi played for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Noor Ahmed featured in Gujarat Titans (GT), and Naveen-ul-Haq represented Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
