Former wicketkeeper batter Rashid Latif praised former chief selector Mohammad Wasim but has also given due credit to people working behind him.

Speaking on national television, Latif said Wasim did a great job as a chief selector but he didn't highlight people who helped him from behind.

"Wasim's tenure as chief selector was good. It was a one-man show but he did well," he said.

"I think he made a mistake of not highlighting people who worked for him behind. People like Kamran Muzaffar, who has a genius cricket mind, worked for Wasim but he never got a space to come forward," he added.

"Wasim's laptop was just a display. Actual work was done behind the scenes," he concluded.

In 2020, Wasim was appointed chief selector by then-PCB chairman Ehsan Mani. The appointment was made after PCB's experiment to enforce 'one-man show' failed. Former Test cricketer Misbah-ul-Haq was given the post of head coach and chief selector together. The idea was executed by then-PCB CEO Wasim Khan. But, it didn't work.

Later on, PCB had to appoint Wasim as chief selector. The veteran of 18 Tests selected the teams of T20 World Cup 2021, Asia Cup 2022 and T20 World Cup 2022. Pakistan played finals of the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup 2022 and semi-final of mega T20 event in 2021.

In December 2022, Najam Sethi-led group took charge of PCB on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif who is also the board's patron-in-chief.

Wasim was sacked from his role alongside some other top officials in the cricket board.
