President Arif Alvi congratulates Balochistan government on successful National Games

Arif Alvi graced the closing ceremony of 34th National Games - Inflics

President of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi congratulated Balochistan government for successfully hosting the 34th National Games in Quetta. 

Alvi graced the closing ceremony of the National Games at Ayub Stadium today.

During his address, Alvi said it is heartening to see sports prevailing in the province. 

"I am so happy to see sports events happening in Balochistan. This province has a great history, dating back to the era of founder of Pakistan, the great Mohammad Ali Jinnah [Quaid-e-Azam]," he said. 

"Quaid-e-Azam loved this province a lot and it has great potential in all walks of life," he added. 

Alvi, who was accompanied by Governer Balochistan Malik Abdul Wali Kakar, Balochistan's sports minister Abdul Khaliq Hazara and other government officials, presented Quaid-e-Azam Trophy to the winning side Army. 

Meanwhile, Alvi talked about giving opportunities to young talented athletes. "As a nation, we should promote our athletes by providing them with ample opportunities. It is very important for any country that they have talented sportsmen," he concluded. 

Army topped the table with 199 gold medals, 133 silver and 66 bronze. WAPDA finished second with 109 gold, 101 silver and 80 bronze medals. Navy, with 28 gold, 32 silver and 49 bronze, were at the third place.

It must be noted that the Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ehsanur Rehman Mazari today announced all possible support for those athletes who showed extraordinary performance while hailing the contributions of all the leading stakeholders in making the event successful.
