Pakistan will host the upcoming Asia Rugby Championship Division I in July this year, the Pakistan Ruby Union confirmed Saturday.
According to the details, Pakistan has been given the hosting rights of Asian rugby event which will be held from July four to eight in Lahore.
Asia Rugby has informed Pakistan Rugby Union about their decision today.
"We are glad to announce that the Asia Rugby Championship will be held in Lahore in July," a representative of Pakistan Rugby Union told Geo News.
"We have been told about the decision today. We are excited to host this event once again in our country," the official added.
Last year, Pakistan hosted Asia Rugby Division II in Lahore. The home team won the championship after defeating Thailand in the final by 24-18.
In the final contest, Pakistan made an impressive comeback. Thailand’s star player, fly-half Thanapong Punpang — who scored all 18 of his team’s points from penalty conversions on the day, expressed disappointment over team's loss.
