Pakistan’s MMA star Ahmed Mujtaba has revealed that he stepped into the cage despite an heel injury after his loss against Sage Northcutt at ONE Fight Night 10 on Saturday.

Northcutt, who was fighting for the first time in four years, only needed 39 seconds to overpower his opponent with a heel hook.

“I want to thank Allah Almighty for always being kind and merciful. I accept the decision which Allah decided for me. For a moment it felt bad after such hard work, sacrifices, injuries and dedication…but then there is a belief whatever happens, happens from Allah and there must be something better for you,” Mujtaba said in a post on his official Facebook page on Sunday.

“My heel was badly injured two weeks before the fight in the camp. My tendons were broken and I could barely walk but I had to fight because I don’t step away from challenges. That is why I had to tap right away so that I can survive my further career bouts. And importantly I got punched in the eye and I couldn’t see anything as it was full of blood. I thought to break from half guard and stand but he got the click and got me.

“I got seven stitches on the eye area. Thankfully, I can see and my eye is okay.

Mujtaba also thanked his fans, coaching and sponsors for their support.

“Firstly, I would like to thank all of you for the love, support, prayers, messages and concern,” he said.

“Secondly, I would like to thank my team and my coaches for giving me opportunity and value of trust. We will come back stronger.

“Thirdly, I would like to thank my sponsors for taking care of me, without them I couldn’t achieve my milestone.”
