The Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios's mother was robbed at gunpoint this week, Australian media reported.

The 26th-ranked tennis star's mother, Norlaila Kyrgios was threatened at gunpoint before the culprit took Nick's green Tesla away from her mother.

Nick recently posted an Instagram story where he thanked all of his fans for supporting him throughout the robbery incident. He also talked about how difficult last couple of days has been as he has not slept much.

"Last couple days has been rough... haven't slept much and battling a little," he wrote on his Instagram story.

A 32-year-old suspect appeared in ACT Magistrates Court on Tuesday where he faced several charges, including robbery and driving a stolen motor vehicle. As per the local sources, he was also denied bail.

The 28-year-old have not played a single game in 2023 after undergoing a knee surgery. He also had to withdraw from the Australian Open in January. He has been sharing his progress on social media.

He was targeting a return for the French Open, which will start by the end of May, but the exact date of his return is still unconfirmed.

In the past, Nick opened about his battle with depression and substance abuse. He talked about his mental health and drug struggle on social media.

The 28-year-old said he was struggling to the point that he turned to self-harming. “Most would assume I was doing OK mentally or enjoying my life ... it was one of my darkest periods,” Nick wrote on Instagram.

“I was lonely, depressed, negative, abusing alcohol, drugs, pushed away family and friends. I felt as if I couldn’t talk or trust anyone. This was a result of not opening up and refusing to lean on my loved ones and simply just push myself little by little to be positive," he added further.

Nick burst into fame as a 19-year-old in 2014, when he shocked the tennis world by beating Rafael Nadal to reach the quarter-finals of Wimbledon.
