Junior Hockey Asia Cup: PHF holds trials in Lahore

Pakistan will participate in Junior Hockey Asia Cup

Trials to select Pakistan's junior team for the upcoming Hockey Asia Cup were completed in Lahore on Tuesday. 

In the second phase, trials were conducted at Lahore's National Hockey Stadium. Over 300 candidates participated in the trials under the supervision of the national selection committee comprised of former Olympians Kaleemullah, Nasir Ali, Abdur Raheem, and Shakeel Abbasi. 

Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF)'s general secretary Haider Hussain, Lahore Qalandars' owner Atif Rana and head coach Aaqib Javed were also present during the trials. 

Earlier, trials were conducted at Abdul Sattar Hockey Stadium in Karachi. The national junior team will be announced for Hockey Asia Cup which will pave the way for Junior Hockey World Cup.

In his latest statement, PHF's president Brigadier (R) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar said that he directed secretary Haider to put every effort to make sure Pakistan's participation in international events. 

"I have directed our secretary Haider to make sure that Pakistan will participate in the upcoming international events," he had said. 

Pakistan's senior team missed Hockey World Cup 2023 due to a blunder made by Pakistan team management in Asia Cup last year. 

It must be noted here that Junior Hockey Asia Cup will be held from May 23 to June 1 this year in Oman.
