Multan Sultans' skipper Mohammad Rizwan completed his 500 runs in this year's Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8.

During the PSL 8 qualifier against Lahore Qalandars on Wednesday, Rizwan scored 33 off 29 including three boundaries. Meanwhile, he brought up his 500 runs this season

Rizwan, who rose to fame in T20Is after being promoted as an opener in the national team back in 2020, set another record in PSL. He has become the only batter in the history of PSL to score 500+ runs in three editions.

After scoring 500 runs in PSL season 6 and 546 runs last year, Rizwan has so far scored 516 runs this season. The right-handed batter has also scored his maiden PSL century this season. He is also currently the highest run-scorer in the ongoing edition of the tournament.

Sultans are currently playing against table toppers Qalandars in the PSL 8 qualifier. Last year when the two teams met in the PSL qualifier, Sultans beat Qalandars by 28 runs to reach the final. Later on, Qalandars beat Sultans in the final to win their maiden PSL title.

It must be noted here that Sultans, under Rizwan, has remained one of the most consistent teams in the PSL for the last couple of years. In 2021, Sultans appointed Rizwan as their captain and won their maiden PSL title. Later next year, Sultans played final of PSL 7.
