Pakistan's skipper Babar Azam preferred Big Bash League (BBL) over Indian Premier League (IPL).

In his interview released by Peshawar Zalmi, Babar was asked to pick one between BBL and IPL.

"BBL or IPL?" the interviewer asked. "BBL," responded Babar. "I think conditions there are fast and batters get help there. In terms of conditions, I think BBL is more interesting. In IPL, you get the same Asian conditions," he added.

IPL is recognised as the top franchise league in the world. Australia's BBL is also among the top leagues in the world. Pakistani players haven't been allowed in IPL since its second edition. They were only featured in the inaugural season of the cash-rich league. Pakistan's former pacer Sohail Tanvir bagged most wickets in the first season of IPL while representing Rajasthan Royals.

In BBL, players like Haris Raf, Mohammad Hasnain and Shadab Khan recently proved their mettle. Babar hasn't played in BBL so far.

The right-handed batter, who is playing for Zalmi in this year's PSL, said the healthy rivalry between players before the league creates positive hype.

"There is nothing serious," said Babar when he was asked about gossip related to statements made by Karachi Kings' players before PSL 8. "I think this is the beauty of any competition. There is always a healthy rivalry and it is important to make any event successful," he added.

It must be noted here that Babar was the biggest trade that happened before PSL 8. Kings traded Babar with Shoaib Malik from Zalmi. This shift created much hype on social media.

Under the leadership of Babar, Zalmi reached the playoffs of PSL 8. They are the only team in PSL who have qualified for playoffs in every season so far.
