Karachi Kings' skipper Imad Wasim has said that the lack of game awareness of some players and unable to finish matches led to defeats during the ongoing eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

In a press conference on Monday, when asked about the reason for taking five games for Karachi to find the right combination and not playing Tabraiz Shamsi earlier, the all-rounder said: "I don't think we made mistake in the team selection, which made us lose games but it was our finishing and lack of game awareness of some players. If we look at our games, apart from the match against Islamabad, we could have won the other games."

Imad also shed light on the reason behind his team's dismal PSL campaign so far.

"We are unable to cross the line. The little margin of one, two, or three runs can go either way but we aren't able to finish games. We have discussed that the little margins should be covered up in the fielding. We are not able to add the final touches."

Karachi thrashed league leaders Multan Sultans by 66 runs in their previous match at the National Bank Cricket in Karachi.

Imad Wasim's side finally clicked against Multan on Sunday. They made a few prominent changes, which paid off. Haider Ali was replaced by Tayyab Tahir, while Tabraiz Shamsi took Imran Tahir's place.

"PSL is the biggest platform for youngsters. It is watched by everyone in the world. Young players get noticed because PSL is the toughest league in the world. In our team, there is Tayyab Tahir, who got an opportunity and proved himself. I discussed it with him saying you are just around the corner but, unfortunately, you couldn't get to play matches. And I told him to play the way he played in domestic cricket. Whoever performs in the PSL, it gets easier for them in international cricket," he said.

Imad admitted that Qasim Akram is a brilliant player but explained that he could only play Irfan Khan due to the latter's power-hitting abilities.

Talking about the conditions of the Pindi Cricket Stadium, Imad said that there will be high-scoring matches at the venue and the crowd would get to see entertaining cricket.

Asked if he is satisfied with his team's performance, he said: "You can't ever be satisfied even if you are top of the league. I am not satisfied but if we continue playing cricket the way we are and remain up to the mark, it will be better for our team."

Karachi Kings will lock horns with Peshawar Zalmi in a crucial clash of the ongoing eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Wednesday (tomorrow).

The match will be played at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, which is all set to host its first match of the PSL 8.
