President Alvi meets national men's, women's football teams

Both teams are preparing for upcoming international events

Pakistan men's side are preparing to participate in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers — PFF 

The President of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi, met with the members of the national men's and women's football teams at the Aiwan-e-Saddar in Islamabad on Thursday.

The national teams were accompanied by the Chairman of the Normalisation Committee, Haroon Malik.

President Alvi praised the success of the national women's team, which finished second in the Four-Nations Tournament in Saudi Arabia, and advised the athletes to put in a lot of effort to make their nation proud.

The president stated that implementing global best practices would encourage athletes and help to promote the sport. Additionally, he supported the notion of forging connections with international partners and encouraging public-private partnerships.

Alvi also encouraged the football federation's normalisation committee to expedite its work and resolve football matters.

The president also acknowledged that football is "quite popular" in Pakistan as there are millions of people who follow the game and claimed that it should be promoted at district and club levels.

It is worth mentioning here that both men's and women's teams were recalled at the PFF Football House in Lahore for a training camp ahead of the upcoming busy schedule of the national teams.

The men's team are preparing to participate in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers, while the Women’s team will take part in the qualifiers for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
