Charles Oliveira will finally make his comeback against Beneil Dariush in a crucial 155-pound contest at UFC 288 on May 6
Oliveira, a former UFC lightweight champion, revealed on his Instagram on Tuesday that he would be facing the number four lightweight in MMA Fighting.
Since then, MMA Fighting has confirmed that the contracts for the contest have been signed.
There have been rumours of a fight between Oliveira (33-9, 1 NC) and Dariush (22-4-1) for weeks. Dariush previously stated that the UFC was eyeing the fight for this summer but was having difficulty establishing a date.
Currently, on an eight-fight winning streak, Dariush most recently defeated Mateusz Gamrot by unanimous decision at UFC 280.
The most recent time fans have seen Oliveira compete was at that same event, where "Do Bronx" lost the lightweight championship to Islam Makhachev in the main event. Oliveira had won 11 straight matches before that loss, including 10 by way of stoppage.
The freshly confirmed bantamweight title match between reigning champion Aljamain Sterling and former two-division champion Henry Cejudo is scheduled to be the main event of UFC 288. The exact location has not yet been disclosed.
