KARACHI: Peshawar Zalmi's captain Babar Azam looked pumped as he was the lone member from his squad who came out for training at National Stadium on Thursday.

Babar, who has been training against spinners for last couple of days, did an hour-long training session alone at Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Center.

The cricketer alongside his trainer did practice on center pitch. Once again he was seen practicing on spin bowling.

On Wednesday too, Babar was seen facing spinners in the nets. Zalmi played an intra-squad practice match at The Oval Ground which is located in the premises of National Stadium.

Babar looked a bit shaky against leg-spinners but Zalmi's batting mentor Kamran Akmal kept on guiding him in the nets.

It must be noted here that Kamran has been appointed batting mentor of Zalmi for just a week and will work with the players in training session ahead of the start of PSL 8.

The Men in Yellow will start their PSL 8 campaign against Karachi Kings at National Stadium, Karachi on February 14.

Quetta Gladiators beat Peshawar Zalmi in PSL 8 exhibition match

Gladiators had defeated Zalmi by three runs in the exhibition match in Quetta on Sunday.

While chasing 185 runs for victory, Zalmi were restricted to 181-7 in 20 overs.

At the half-way mark, it seemed as if Zalmi would cruise to victory after reaching 109-1 in 10 overs. However, Quetta picked up wickets at regular intervals towards the backend of the innings to stall their opponent's progress.

Opener Mohammad Haris, who played some stunning shots, top-scored with 53 runs in 35 balls. Shahid Afridi and Babar Azam scored 25 and 23 runs, respectively.

Mohammad Hasnain was the pick of the bowlers for Quetta after bagging figures of 3-30 in four overs.

Meanwhile, Naseem Shah defended nine runs in the final over to get his side over the line.
