Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja has revealed that the Najam Sethi-led management committee wants him to apologise for the recent statements he made criticising the management in order to be included on the commentary panel of Pakistan Super League (PSL).

In December 2022, Raja was ousted as chairman of PCB by the Shehbaz Sharif-led government, appointing Sethi as chairman of the 14-member committee to oversee the operations of the board before holding elections.

The committee repealed the 2019 constitution, which paved the way for the 2014 legislation to come into effect.

Raja was asked about doing commentary for PSL 8 during a Q&A session with fans on his YouTube channel.

"They [PCB's management committee] want me to apologize to them first and give an application for commentary, then they will review it. Do you think I will do that? " Raja said.

After being dismissed from the PCB, Raja expressed his disappointment and stated that state intervention in cricket is not justified.

"There should be no political interference in cricket. The government of Pakistan removed a Test cricketer from the chairmanship of the PCB just to accommodate Najam Sethi. This is a highly disrespectful way of treating your cricketers," the former cricket said.

"This Najam Sethi is tweeting at 2:15 am that Ramiz Raja has been sacked, start congratulating me. I have played Test cricket, this is my field, and it hurts to see these people from outside cricket trying to act like a Messiah. I know that their motives are non-cricketing. These people are here for the limelight."

The PSL 8 will commence on February 13 when defending champions Lahore Qalandars take on 2021 champions Multan Sultans in the opening clash at the Multan Cricket Stadium after the opening ceremony.

Rawalpindi will stage 11 fixtures, Karachi and Lahore will host nine matches each, whereas Multan will have five home games.
