Former Test cricketer Shahid Khan Afridi backed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)'s decision to appoint Kamran Akmal as chief of selection committee which will select players in trials for U13, U16, and U19 regional and district teams.
Speaking to a local tv channel, Afridi said Akmal is a good choice for selector at junior level.
"Kamran is honest and hard-working. I think he is a good choice to select players at the junior level. He is bold and will not take any pressure in selection of players," he said.
PCB, on Monday, named an eight-member selection committee, which will conduct U13, U16, and U19 trials for the selection of regional and district teams.
Former Test wicketkeeper batter Kamran Akmal was appointed as the chair, while other members of the panel are Sohail Tanvir, Amir Nazir, Taimoor Khan, Junaid Khan, Faisal Athar, Qaisar Abbas, Sanaullah Baloch.
Each selector, along with the head coach of the region/district, will conduct trials according to the schedule, which will be announced in due course.
