Tyson Fury has said that if he cannot reach an agreement to face Oleksandr Usyk, he will pursue a bout with Francis Ngannou.

A historic undisputed title bout between heavyweight rivals Fury and Usyk has been the subject of protracted negotiations and was expected to happen this spring.

The announcement is reportedly being delayed by discussions regarding the location and timing of the bout, despite the fact that both boxers have already made a general agreement to hold the contest.

Ngannou recently left the UFC to become a free agent, and the Brit has since reaffirmed his offer to make the fight using 4-ounce gloves.

"I’m hoping so [a fight with Francis Ngannou materialises]. I’m very much hoping so," Fury told GiveMeSport. "Because if Usyk doesn’t happen like this month coming, then I’m going to say, 'right then, let’s move on and do Francis Ngannou'. And I’m looking to get big Francis in a cage with 4oz gloves on and throw down with him swinging some big bombs.

"It's risky because Francis at one point was considered the biggest puncher in combat sports. So, with 4oz gloves on, all it takes is one punch and it's all over."

After his victory over Dillian Whyte in April of last year, Fury revealed that he would be open to a mixed-rules match with Ngannou. At the time, "The Predator" was the UFC champion and had a contract, but he chose to break it off and is now a free agent.
