The Women's T20 World Cup 2023 is scheduled from February 10 to 26 — ICC

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced an all-female officiating team for the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup 2023 in South Africa.

A 13-person team has been named by the international governing body for the 10-team event, which is scheduled from February 10 to 26. The 23 matches will be overseen by 10 umpires and three match referees.

Veteran Claire Polosak will continue her streak of participation in every women's World Cup competition since 2016 in every format.

It follows the appointment of nine female officials out of the 15 for the ongoing Under-19 women's T20 World Cup.

"When young women and girls see it, they believe that they can be it. That's just one of the reasons why having this match officials panel is so special," said ICC women's cricket manager Snehal Pradhan.

"It shows the next generation that there is a career and a pathway that takes them to the very top of the game, the World Cup, even if you're not a player. It shows that there are so many ways to get involved."

It is worth mentioning here that since the first competition, a 60-over competition held in England in 1973, an all-female officiating panel has never presided over a women's World Cup.
