Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE) and the La Liga came out in support of Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior after the winger's effigy was hanged from a bridge close to the team's training facility.

"We condemn this inadmissible episode, which constitutes a hate crime. AFE will appear as a private prosecution in any case that is opened on this intolerable fact," said the association.

Meanwhile, La Liga has said that it "strongly condemns acts of hatred and intimidation against Vinicius Jr" after the unfortunate incident.

The railings of the bridge was decorated with a banner that read, "Madrid hates Real."

On Thursday, Atletico Madrid and Real will face off in the Copa del Rey, and Atletico described the event as "repugnant."

Vinicius Jr stated last month that the Spanish league needed to take action against racist fans.

Atletico fans sang racist lyrics at the player as they entered their Wanda Metropolitano stadium prior to Real's 2-1 victory in the September Madrid derby, which the club deemed "unacceptable."

Three months later, Spanish authorities ended their inquiry into the chanting, stating that it was difficult to pin down the perpetrators.

The Spanish league announced earlier this month that it had reported the racist taunt of the Brazilian to the "relevant judicial, administrative, and sports organisations."
