LAHORE: Arch-rivals Pakistan and India are likely to lock horns in T20 World Cup 2024 in Florida, United States.

According to Indian news agency, International Cricket Council (ICC) did recce of venues in US and West Indies who are scheduled to host the T20 World Cup in June 2024.

Three US cities including Florida, Los Angeles, and Auckland have been shortlisted to host the mega event, international media reported. ICC's delegation visited these cities to have a look at the facilities.

US Cricket's president Atul Rai shared the possibility of hosting arch-rivals Pakistan and India in Florida.

"The ICC events team headed by Chris Tetley had travelled up and down back in May when they inspected a lot of grounds across various cities. A few weeks back (December), they again came back and narrowed their search," Rai was quoted saying.

"Preferably Pakistan vs India match will be held in the USA considering that India’s T20 games against West Indies in Florida were a complete sell-out," added Rai.

It must be noted here that West Indies and US were given joint hosting rights of T20 World Cup 2024. US will be hosting an ICC event for the very first time.

West Indies last hosted T20 World Cup in 2010. England won that season after defeating Australia in the final by seven wickets.

England will now defend their T20 World Cup title in US and West Indies in 2024.
