Former WWE champion Drew McIntyre has backed Indian batter Virat Kohli to overtake batting great Sachin Tendulkar after the former scored a magnificent century against Sri Lanka.

Kohli was sensational in the third ODI against Sri Lanka at the Greenfield Stadium on Sunday, as he smashed 166 runs off 110 balls to help his side beat the Island nation in a record win.

The Men in Blue secured a record 317-run win — the greatest margin of victory by runs in ODI history — over Sri Lanka in the last ODI of the series.

The century was Kohli's 46th in ODI cricket, which is three less to equal Tendulkar, who scored 49 tons in 463 50-over matches.

Kohli gathered massive praise from the whole cricket fraternity, meanwhile former WWE champion, McIntyre lauded the former Indian batter and backed him to overtake Tendulkar.

"Even by his standard, today's knock was insane. Virat Kohli is a different breed. Surely, he'll go past Tendulkar and reach 50 ODI tons?!" he wrote on Twitter.

Kohli's century against Sri Lanka in the third ODI match was his third in four games.

With the innings, Kohli set a record for the quickest 74 centuries across all formats, moving him even closer to Sachin Tendulkar's record.
