The PCB Management Committee has decided to discontinue PJL — PCB

Shakil Shaikh, the member of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee, has confirmed that all outstanding dues related to the Pakistan Junior League (PJL) have been cleared.

Shaikh shared the development on his official Twitter account.

“Ramiz’s messy financial backlog of Pak [Pakistan] Jr [Junior] League (PJL) is cleared. New PCB admin u/ [administration under] Najam Sethi has made payments to all foreign/local players and mentors,” tweeted Shaikh.

“As he bought a bullet-proof car for himself, Ramiz left behind massive outstanding payments and $4.3 mln [million] losses,” he added.

Earlier, sources had revealed that only foreign players were paid seventy percent of their dues. Meanwhile, local players didn’t receive any payment from the national cricket government body.

It is worth mentioning here that the PCB Management Committee has decided to discontinue the Pakistan Junior League (PJL) last month.

Reacting to the PCB’s decision, former chairman Ramiz Raja was disappointed to see “that PJL has fallen to vendetta politics”.

However, to ensure there is a pathway for high-performing teenagers and the country continues to produce talented cricketers across all age gaps, it was agreed to revive junior series on a home-and-away basis.

It was also agreed to hold discussions with the Pakistan Super League franchises to include an Under-19 player under their Emerging Categories in the playing line-ups.

The inaugural season of PJL was held last year, with Bahawalpur Royals beating Gwadar Sharks in the final to clinch the title.
