PSL 8: USA's Houston Hurricanes set to play against Quetta Gladiators

Both teams will play three T20s in late January

KARACHI: Houston Hurricanes are set to become the first-ever team from the United States of America (USA) to play against the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise. 

Hurricanes will travel to Pakistan late this January to play three T20 matches against Quetta Gladiators. The two teams will play all three matches here at National Bank Cricket Arena (NBCA) on January 29, 30, and 31. 

The American team, which plays in Minor League Cricket’s Central Division, will carry their players from the 2021 competition roster. Their players include Nauman Anwer, Shayan Jahangir, Lahiru Milantha, Shehan Jayasuriya, Nosthush Kenjige, Usman Rafiq, Mohammad Mohsin and Mathew Tromp. 

Gladiators are hosting Hurricanes in a build-up to the upcoming eighth edition of the PSL. According to a tentative schedule, PSL 8 will be played from February 13 to March 19 in Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi. Quetta can also be a venue for a match or two. 

Sarfaraz Ahmed-led Gladiators have won the fourth edition of PSL in 2019 at the same venue (previously known as National Stadium). They also finished as runners-up in 2016 and 2017 editions. 

It must be noted here that U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome and William K. Makaneole, U.S. Consul General in Lahore, alongside Quetta Gladiators owner Nadeem Omar and other dignitaries will attend the brief opening ceremony of the T20 series.
