KARACHI: Pakistan's opener Fakhar Zaman shared the pain behind working so hard to recover from a knee injury and making comeback in the green shirt. 

Speaking to media after his dominating performance in ODI series decider against New Zealand here on Friday, Fakhar said it wasn't easy for him to make a comeback. 

"It was very important series for me because making comeback from an injury wasn't easy," said Fakhar who missed fielding during third ODI against New Zealand due to feeling irritation in his right hamstring.

"I worked really hard behind the scenes. I trained hard and worked on my fitness back home. It took lot of effort to comeback and perform," added centurion of third ODI, Fakhar. 

While talking about his knee pain keeping in mind the ICC World Cup year, Fakhar said he will work on it. 

"Yes, it's a world cup year which is important for every player," he said. "Today, my knee pain was back but I was doing fine. As a precautionary measure, our physio advised me to stay off the ground," he added. 

"Being a professional when you are representing your country, you have to bear such pains. In Pakistan Cup and even during this series, I was playing with taping on my knee. But, I am committed to overcome this issue and continue representing Pakistan," he maintained. 

Fakhar scored 101 off 122 balls to help Pakistan score 280-9 in series-deciding ODI against New Zealand.
